Enrolment Scheme (Zoning)

Viscount School is now a zoned School.  The school zone map shows the boundaries of the zoned area.

All presently enrolled students will not be affected by the new zone and will be entitled to stay at Viscount School for their learning.

There are two forms that need to be completed to enrol your child at Viscount School:

You must bring your child’s birth certificate and immunisation record [originals only please]

For New Entrants (5 year olds) we need to see your child’s immunisation record such as their Plunket book. If you don’t have this record, ask your family Doctor for a letter of confirmation.

If you would like more information about enrolling please visit, call or email the Office.

School Zone

Home Zone

All students who live within the home zone described below (and shown on the school zone map) shall be entitled to enrol at the school.

Starting at the intersection of McKenzie Road and Walmsley Road travel east along Walmsley Road to the motorway. Travel southbound along the motorway then south east along Bader Drive (excluded). Travel along Orly Ave (numbers 2-26 included only), along Staverton Crescent and Desford Place. From the Kirkbride Road motorway over bridge travel north west along Kirkbride Road continuing along McKenzie Road back to the starting point.

All residential addresses on included sides of boundary roads and all no exits roads off included sides of boundary roads are included in the zone unless otherwise stated.

Out of Zone Enrolments

Each year the Board will determine the number of places which are likely to be available in the following year for the enrolment of students who live outside the home zone. The Board will publish this information by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the local area. The notice will indicate how applications are to be made and will specify a date by which all applications must be received.

Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:

  • First Priority – will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students
  • Second Priority – will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students
  • Third Priority – will be given to applicants who are children of board employees
  • Fourth Priority – will be given to all other applicants

If there are more applicants in the second, third, fourth or fifth priority groups than there are places available, selection within the priority group will be by a ballot conducted in accordance with the instructions by the Secretary under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the date of any ballot by notice in a daily or community newspaper circulating in the area served by the school.

Applicants seeking first or second priority status may be required to show proof of a sibling relationship.
